It’s springtime, and a lot of new riders are getting out there on the road for the first time. Most of them will ride smart and safe, but a couple of them will ride badly. Motorcycle safety, though, matters to everybody.

First of all, a new motorcyclist would be smart to sign up for a rider safety course. The highway patrol holds these classes and staffs them with trained and qualified instructors who are veteran motorcyclists that having been riding them for years.

At the course, they will teach subjects like how to start and stop the bike safely, emergency braking and maneuvers, and how to make a safe turn. These courses are also good for waiving the behind-the-wheel portion of the driver’s license exam.

Driving a car is not like riding a bike, and there are many new ideas that each rider will need to get used to. Shifting body weight in either direction can send a motorcyclist off course, resulting in a panicked rider. Panicking while riding a bike can cause the rider to lose control, which in turn causes a crash.

Each rider has to maintain a clear awareness of the situation around him. One thing to do is picture a cushion or bubble around the motorcyclist. Cars have blind spots, and riders have to be aware of them, particularly because motorcycles have such bad profiles.

Often, a rider gets hit by a car turning left. Often, the car turns immediately into the path of the rider and the driver says that he or she never saw the motorcycle. One of the biggest dangers to motorcycles, it has been estimated, is the left-turning car.

Also dangerous are driveways, and automobiles that are backing out of driveways might not see a motorcyclist coming. Available light, inclement weather and a whole host of other variables all come into play when determining how well seen a rider is. Accordingly, a biker has to be very conscious of everything going on in his or her vicinity and then has to make fast decisions on the best maneuvers to make.

Proper attire is another important part of rider protection. Some riders wear nothing but jeans and a t-shirt, particularly during summer. Crashing on a bike is just like pressing your bare skin against a high-revving belt sander, and clothing shreds very quickly. The well-dressed rider prepares for the crash instead of the ride and therefore chooses leather clothing, solid gloves, and a helmet that covers the whole face.

It is recommended that the rider ride as defensively as possible. Be very careful when coming up on intersections, because getting hit on a bike is very different from getting hit on a car. Watch out for road conditions, as bumpy roads can send the bike careening off its line.

Riding a bike is great fun. The biker is in the end the one person most responsible for his or her protection, however, and they can’t hope that other drivers see them all the time, especially given the small size of most bikes. Be careful and get observe motorcycle safety.

1927 witnessed the rise of Indian Motorcycle with three products from its line the Indian Scout, the Indian Chief and the Indian Ace. They made a major impact and besides they acquired the assets of the Ace Motorcycle Company which got them the name of Indian Four.

The year’27 saw the production of the first all-talking motion picture, The Jazz Singer, starring Al Jolson. It was also the year Charles Lindbergh reached Paris after his successful trans-Atlantic flight, and the year Babe Ruth hit his 60th home run in the 8th inning of a game between New York and Washington. The beating that came after Ruth in the line-up was a man by the name of Louis Gehrig.

Though farmers were facing a tough year – tough enough that many of them sold out and became tenant farmers, America was at the peak of the Jazz Age in’27. The Indian Motorcycle Company was having a fine year as well.

In this year Indian Motorcycle models like Scout and Chief were at the top and selling exceptionally well. Indian motorcycle also came up with “Indian Ace” after they acquired the assets of the Ace Company. This top line big and luxurious bike with four cylinders was called Indian Four after one year.

Indian Four bike from the Indian Motorcycle was built till’42. Initially known as Indian Ace this bike got 77 cubic inch (1,256 cc) four cylinder machine in’41. It was fitted with tank-shifting three speed transmission and famous Indian fender. After’42 with the start of World War II the production of Indian four was stopped altogether.

In’27 Indian Motorcycle became synonymous with America. The maximum supply of the Scout and Chief were to the police department. The requirement increased so much that Indian Motorcycle had to have a separate branch dealing with it. Indian Motorcycle also worked upon to lower the frame of the bike in’27.

But they probably didn’t know just how important the 101 Scout from the year’28 would be. And in’27 they could hardly know that 40 years into the future an Indian motorcycle would set an Under-1000 cc speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats in northwest Utah.

A’27 Indian Motorcycle is a rare find today. The few specimens that have been tenderly restored to the attractive machines they started out as can sell for as much as $30,000. Clearly,’27 was a great year for the Indian Motorcycle Company.

The 1927 Indian motorbike is affectionately remembered by true motorcycle lovers around the world. If you are thinking of purchasing an Indian, check out this page on Indian motorbike dealers.

Anyone who has hit the road or the track on two wheels has reveled in the thrill of motor biking.

Anyone who has hit the road or the track on two wheels has reveled in the thrill of motor biking. Having the proper kind of motorcycle tires keeping us in rolling right is way more important when you only have two wheels underneath us. Style and function are important, but never forget safety when deciding to get new tires or not.

The joys of motor bikes of all sorts can be seen in the faces of those who ride them. From cruising down the road in style on a big old hog to jumping through the wilderness on an dirt bike it is all great fun. The world whips by in a breeze as the miles fly by with a grin and a roar. One ride can make a enthusiast for life.

Not everything about motor biking is safe and simple. Light weight vehicles on two wheels are hard to see at times, and often can get overlooked by fellow road users. It is smart to be sharp and alert when riding at all times. Some hazards of the road are often avoided altogether with a little preparation and care.

The proper tire for the situation will make all the difference. Checking the wear and condition of any tire before riding is always smart. Old tires will lead to blowouts and flats. A blowout can lead to a controlled slide or wreck in many cases. Any rider who has been in this situation knows how dangerous it can be.

Having the best treads for whatever the use may be is the only way to roll. Trusted names and tested results are a good thing to look into when trying to find the right fit for any style of motorcycle riding. Researching what works best for and holds up to the rigors or a good ride is the smartest way to shop.

When the best fit for the job has been found, it then becomes important to find the lowest prices for that product. Great motorcycle tires are worth the cost in most cases. High speed adventure requires the strongest and most trusted gear underneath us in order to have fun and be safe at the same time. Shop around and be smart when making any important buy.

When you buy motorcycle accessories, always consider the finest. Like when choosing shoei helmets, be sure to get only the finest.

Thinking of getting a cycle for getting around town? For most people, the first thought would be a motorcycle. Riding a motorcycle is most definitely the "in" thing to do these days.

Thinking of getting a cycle for getting around town? For most people, the first thought would be a motorcycle. Riding a motorcycle is most definitely the “in” thing to do these days.

Riding a motorcycle is possibly one of the most pleasurable means of transportation. Getting on the motorcycle and hitting the road is like an instant vacation. The sun on your face and the wind at your back, your troubles seem to be a thing of the past. It’s about as close to heaven as you can get on this earth. There’s something indescribable about being out in the fresh air. When riding the motorcycle, you’re more in touch with everything and everyone. You take the time to explore new areas and get in touch with the local ambiance, enjoying the ride to the fullest extent.

And riding my motorcycle is certainly less expensive than driving a car. No matter what kind of car you drive, with gas prices over $4 per gallon, the saving is significant.

But, motorcycles are pricey, with some costing as much as a luxury car. Would you ever consider a scooter instead? Scooters have a different design and a different wheel base, and are considered a subclass of the motorcycle. They share many of the same benefits. They’re not considered to be as “macho” and if you’re the Harley or Gold Wing type, you’re probably laughing by now.

Before you totally write off the idea of a scooter, consider some of the benefits. First, they’re just as much fun to ride as a motorcycle, just different. Scooters cost much less than most motorcycles, making them very affordable. You’ll be able to select from many sizes and models. You’ll have no problem finding the one that fits your style and your pocketbook.

One of the larger, more powerful scooters may be your choice if you’ll be taking long rides or driving frequently on the freeways. There are plenty of scooters that will satisfy your need for power if that’s what you’re looking for. A smaller scooter may be just what you want if you’ll be traveling short distances in light traffic. In some states, the smaller scooters don’t require a special driver’s license. Be sure to check your state to be certain of the regulations.

Scooters can be easier to drive as well. There is no need to shift gears, as scooters have automatic engines. Getting on and off the scooter is also easier for most. There is usually storage under the seat and room for a storage container in the back as well, so there’s plenty of room to pack your gear.

If you’ve ridden both a motorcycle and a scooter, you will notice a difference in how people react to you. For some reason, even though it’s probably the furthest thing from the truth, many people think of a motorcyclist as being “tough” and are sometimes intimidated by them. There is a completely different reaction to a scooter rider. People generally break out in a smile and wave. Somehow, the difference in reactions doesn’t seem right, but that’s how it is.

Each state has its own laws governing insurance for scooters. All motor driven cycles in most states require liability insurance for bodily injury and property damage.Scooters must carry the minimum legally mandatory liability insurance and be registered and titled.

Manage your motorcyle insurance cost by doing an annual review. Compare motorcycle insurance rates online each year and switch if you find a lower rate.

50cc scooters have an engine size that classifies them as small motorcycles or mopeds at the limit between the vehicle category and moped classes. Regulations differ betweenmany countries of the world, when it comes to the right to drive 50cc scooters with or without a driving license and common terms are seldom made. For instance, in some EU countries you can ride such motorcycles without a driving license. The exceptions are France and Italy, where you need a car driving license to ride vehicles up to 125cc. There is quite a high level of legal ambiguity for the definition and classification of scooters.

Restrictions and licensing fees are a lot smaller for 50cc scooters and they are not legally defined as motorcycles. This definition is applied to vehicles above an engine capacity of 50cc. However, an intermediary definition or class has been defined by some states. Therefore, between 50 and 150cc, vehicles are referred to as motorized bikes. In other parts of the world, 50cc scooters and above, are defined as motorcycles.

Hence, the terms of such a vehicle’s classification vary from state to state and cannot be discussed as if they are interchangeable. Therefore, when you shop for a scooter or you are searching for information, you need to take these details into consideration as well in order to understand everything properly.

As for technical features, 50cc scooters are among the smallest and best designed on the market. People love them because of their low cost, the reduced fuel consumption and the possibility of being used by teenagers and adults alike. They are sleek and sporty at the same time, so such a vehicle is considered a cool alternative to public transport.

You can zip around with a scooter, getting over the challenges of heavy traffic. Even though they have a small cylinder capacity, 50cc scooters have four stroke engines with a high performance for various mobility and transportation purposes.

However, 50cc scooters share common features with larger models, because the design lines are frequently kept similar by the various manufacturers. Therefore, there is usually an electric start and a kick start mode, the brakes and exhaust come in sports variants and they all have some kind of storage space beneath the seat.

Before the purchase of such a small motorcycle, you should learn some details about the certification for registration, the warranty, the fuel consumption and the technical limitations of the model. Nevertheless, the same advice hold valid for larger designs too.

If you want a gas powered scooters or are thinking about buying one, you should take a look at our recommendations before hand at: http://www.squidoo.com/gas-goped.

Staying safe on the road is very important especially for those who are driving around on two wheels. Finding the right motorcycle insurance while saving a lot of money is easy if you know where to look. If you are seriously looking for a policy with the best coverage at the best price, keep reading. You’ll find the tools and tips you need to compare motorcycle insurance.

There is some information that is going to be needed ahead of time in order to make sure that the right policy is found. Have the year, make and model of your motor bike handy. If possible, get the VIN too. This way the insurance company will know what kind of bike you want to insure. If this information is not provided, it is going to be incredibly difficult to get in touch with the most accurate policy.

From there, it is very important to sit down and think about the amount of coverage that is needed. If you want to be covered under any possible scenario, you’ll have some comparison shopping to do. The more coverage that is required, the higher the amount of money it is going to take to have the right policy. Invest the time to learn about your options and get a motorcycle insurance policy that meets your needs.

Finding a company that can provide the right amount of coverage is not going to be very difficult. Take the time to shop around and find different companies that offer a number of different insurance policies. Don’t rush this step. It may seem tedious, but it’s well worth your time to find the right insurer and policy.

To get the very best policy take the time to start out with the quote process. Online quotes are offered by all of the major motorcycle insurance companies and will help to get drivers set up with what they need. Be sure to take time to sign up for a number of quotes to find out how much it is going to cost to insure the bike.

Once you have the quotes in hand, you’ll want to do a motorcycle insurance comparison. Obviously you’ll want to compare the premiums and select a policy that you can afford to pay for each month. It should also connect the driver to a policy that is going to protect them at all times. Choose the policy that has the right balance between price and coverage. If you’re not satisfied with the available options, go back and get a few more motor bike insurance quotes.

If the right policy has been found, it will be time to sign up for everything. Be sure to take care of this step online in order to save a great amount of time. You can even set up automatic payments. This will avoid having your insurance canceled if you forget to pay the bill. It only takes a few minutes to plug in the payment information. Be sure to print out your insurance card and tuck it away in your wallet. Put a copy of the whole policy somewhere safe – either print it out and keep it in a file cabinet, or save in on your hard drive.

In order to make sure that the driver is safe and legal at all times, the right motorcycle insurance policy needs to be located. Start your search online to find the policy with the best coverage for your situation at the lowest price. Once you have your insurance policy in place, you’ll be able to ride your bike without worrying.

Go online now to compare motorcycle insurance coverage and rates. You should be able to find good affordable motorcycle insurance and be on your way pretty quickly.

Taking up dirt bike racing is a courageous step in life and it is for those who are adventurous in life. Without a good bicycle, one can easily miss out on this adrenaline packed and fun sport. There are certain steps to take when choosing the correct bicycle for this sport.

One of the things is the danger that comes with the racing. This sport is extreme and is done in harsh conditions. Women need to assess their reasons of getting into the sport and determine if they are ready for the dangers and the fun that comes with it. It is recommended that interested women watch the sport on television and during live performances before making up their decisions.

In your research, find out the elements that make the bicycle stand out and which brands have been used by winning racers in the sport. Besides, it is also important to get information concerning the prices of the various bicycles that are available. During this survey, also check out the retail and online shops which stock these bicycles and which models they have.

The goggles on the other hand protect the eyes. The race always involves rough and muddy or rough terrain. As a racer, the last thing that you would want as an obstacle to your winning is the dust from the paths. Wearing goggles which fit perfectly will protect your eyes from such worries. After all, this is a fast race that takes place in dusty areas, your eyes need the best protection.

Another important gear in this extreme sport is the armored vest, jacket and padded leggings. These items help to protect the body in general. The sport is very dangerous with a lot of dust involved. A racer does not have to worry about the dust that is getting on their body or scratches and falls as your body is fully protected from those things when you wear the correct gear.

A great bicycle is imperative in ensuring one wins the race. If the bicycle you are purchasing is old, then you will need to ask as many questions as possible about its age, the period it has been used and how it is stored. This will help determine the overall condition of the bicycle.

There are many other extra accessories which can be bought by those taking up dirt bike racing. However, just the extra accessories bought for the bikes, these little things cost slightly more. But for those who can afford them they give the racer or rider a great look.

The first benefit of these helmets is that it can protect your head from serious damage during an accident. It can prevent serious head injuries and bumps that can cause death.

As a fifty year old man who enjoys good living, when the time came to change my bike recently I decided that sports bikes, or even sports tourers, were no longer for me.

Waking each morning with a new set of aches and pains, and not taking as much exercise as I should these days, led me to thinking in terms of an upright configuration; a BMW R1200RT for example.

However, now BMW appear to have merged their bike sales with their car sales, the dealer I visited left me unimpressed, so I decided to rethink my plans.

Over the past 15 years or so I have owned a number of Triumphs, (the modern versions), so decided to pay my local dealer a visit.

I was instantly taken with the Rocket 3. I have never owned a cruiser before, but have always had something of a fetish for big engines – and they don’t come any bigger than this is standard trim.

Throwing my leg over the demonstrator outside, I have to say I felt a little intimidated by the sheer size of the thing. Reaching to the bars however, was a relief as I found I could now look over both shoulders and not have to crane my neck up to see where I’m going!

When pressed into life the engine gave that familiar Triumph sound. It was like a challenge, the bike saying “come on if you think your tough enough”!

As I slipped the clutch without adding any revs, the bike gently, but purposefully moved forward.

Adding a small amount of throttle, I was pleasantly surprised at how gently the power comes in, (unless you open the throttle a bit wider of course!).

Anyone can ride fast, but I was more interested in finding out about control, as I gently rode around the dealer’s forecourt amongst the parked bikes. The thing I noticed most of course, was the bars. Instead of just gently leaning the bike as I am accustomed to, one has to turn the bars at low speed.

However, one soon realizes that this is not going to happen. It’s simply a matter of adjusting to a different set up, and the bike soon tells you when to replace the turning of the bars with leaning as the rear end falls into line.

Having said the power comes in gently, what I really mean is that it does if you want it to. Rather than the Hyabusa or Blackbird where the thing is constantly urging you to roll in more and more power, the Rocket has peak power very low in the rev band, so if you do want to go to warp speed you can, easily and quickly, but you don’t feel that the bike demands it of you.

When you are travelling at speed the bike is comfortable and glued to the road, it also handles very well, unless you are a (genuine) sports bike rider, in which case you will have to plan your corners rather more than you may be used to.

The fat rear tyre does mean that you feel every groove in the road surface, and it does mean that the back end moves around a little, but with the burble of the engine one soon gets used to it and it gives the thing some character – something I’ve always missed in the ultra smooth fours of today.

Brakes cope comfortably with the weight and have plenty of feel.

Having thought that my biking days were over, I now find that the Rocket is giving me a new lease of motorcycling life, together with a huge grin!

Zac likes nothing better than maintaining his pool of motorcycles. He understands the importance of having the right tools for the job, including storage, for which he uses genuine Harley Davidson motorcycle covers.
